Our 6th grade students are invited to participate in a trip to the Catalina Island marine Institute (CIMI) at Toyon Bay on May 1, 2, and 3, 2020. You can learn more about the Catalina Island Marine Institute at their website: www.cimioutdoored.org
Our students will be engaged in several experiential learning activities that will cover the NGSS 6thgrade science standards. This is a wonderful experience and we would love for everyone to go!
All of our students are eligible to go on this trip and no student will be refused due to inability to donate. All fundraising will help cover the following expenses: the bus to and from Long Beach, meals, lodging, a travel t-shirt, and instruction by the CIMI staff for the three-day program.
Donations, in the suggested amount of $375.00 per student, are necessary in order to fund the trip. If we are unable to raise enough money, the trip will be cancelled. If the trip is cancelled due to our inability to pay, full refunds will be provided to the families who have registered their students.
If you are able to contribute more than the suggested $375, we encourage you to do so. Thank you in advance for your generosity. If you are unable to contribute all or part of the suggested $375 donation, please indicate this on the Field Trip Intention Form and you will be contacted regarding scholarship information.
PLEASE submit your complete Field Trip Intention form to Ms. Sofio by Thursday, January 23, 2020.
We will meet at school on Friday morning at 6:30am and depart by 7:00am. We will travel to Long Beach by bus and then travel to Catalina by boat. The students will need to bring a lunch for Friday only. If we need to have a lunch prepared by our cafeteria staff, please notify us by April 24. Ms Sofio, Ms Miller, and parents will chaperone the trip. We will return to school on Sunday by 3:00pm.
A packing list is available on the CIMI website (www.cimioutdoored.org) and a hard copy will be provided. If you have any questions about the camp and the program at CIMI you can contact them at (310) 510-1622 or visit their website. If you would like to discuss this opportunity, please feel free to contact me at school: (818) 487-7600 or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Our hope is that every student participates in this fabulous experience.
